Special Branch – Weapon Engineering
The Special Branch accepts BE/BS in Industrial Electronics, System Engineering, Telecom Engineering, Electrical (EE) or Electronics (EL), or an MS in Industrial Electronics, System Engineering, Power Control Systems, Communication, Control/Embedded Systems, Telecom, EE or EL, with at least 2.5 CGPA / 60% marks. Age limit is 27 years and rank is as per policy.
Ordnance Branch (Related Option)
Engineers with BE Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Mechatronics (2.5 CGPA/60%) can also consider the Ordnance Branch, which manages naval armament, ammunition and explosive safety. Age limit 27 years; rank Ag S/Lt. Remember you can apply for only one category per course.
What Does a Weapon Engineering Officer Do?
Weapon Engineering Officers maintain and operate the combat systems that make a warship fight: surveillance and fire-control radars, sonar, electronic warfare suites, surface-to-air and anti-ship missile systems, naval guns, torpedoes, combat management systems, communication networks and, in the Aviation stream, the avionics of maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters. Submarine weapon engineers specialise in sonar, torpedo and underwater sensor systems.
Weapon Engineer Test Preparation
The computer-based e-Test has an Intelligence Test and an Academic Test. For Weapon Engineering, revise circuit analysis, electronics (diodes, transistors, op-amps), digital logic, signals & systems, communication systems, control systems, electromagnetics and power electronics, plus basic Physics and Mathematics. Practise verbal and non-verbal reasoning daily and attempt timed mock tests on Shaheen Leaders Academy.

Selection Process
Pakistan Navy SSC 2027-A Selection Process
Register on the official portal www.joinpaknavy.gov.pk between 01 and 22 November 2026. A recent photograph is mandatory and you choose your nearest Pakistan Navy Recruitment & Selection Centre (PNR&SC) as test venue.
The initial test consists of an Intelligence Test and an Academic Test; a professional test is added for some categories. Original CNIC and documents are required on test day.
Test-qualified candidates go through preliminary medical, Physical Efficiency Test and an initial interview at the respective PNR&SC. Only qualifiers are issued application forms.
Merit-based shortlisted candidates are called to the Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB). ISSB recommendation remains valid for one year.
Recommended candidates undergo a detailed medical at an authorized CMH or PNS SHIFA Hospital, Karachi. An appeal medical board is held only at CMH Rawalpindi (no appeal for Hepatitis B, C or HIV).
Final interview by the Pakistan Navy Selection Board at the venue decided by Naval Headquarters (NHQ).
Naval Headquarters, Islamabad makes the final selection strictly on merit. Selected officers report to the Pakistan Naval Academy (PNA), Karachi for about six months of initial training.

Computerized National Identity Card is compulsory for the test and every later stage.
Domicile of your province/region as per recruitment instructions.
Matric, HSSC/FSc, final degree and transcripts from an HEC recognized university/institution. Foreign degrees need HEC equivalence.
16-year degree with CGPA; PEC registration (if available) is useful.
Required as preference for the Aviation stream (2 years at engineering/industrial setup).
Only post-degree experience is counted; internship periods are not treated as experience.
Serving government employees must obtain a No Objection Certificate from their department.
A clear passport-size photograph is mandatory for online registration.

- Submit the form before 22 November 2026 and print your registration slip; test dates are communicated through calls/SMS and the portal.

Who Is Not Eligible?
- Rejected by ISSB or GHQ/NHQ/AHQ selection boards as per prescribed limits (e.g. twice rejected by ISSB for Post Graduate Entry).
- Twice screened out by ISSB, or tested within 120 days of the previous ISSB appearance (unless waived by the competent authority).
- Dismissed, removed or debarred from government service including the Armed Forces.
- Convicted by a court of law for a heinous offence.
- Permanently declared UNFIT by an Appeal Medical Board, or declared unfit due to Hepatitis B & C.
- Withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any bonded Armed Forces college, or withdrawn/resigned/purchased commission from any Armed Forces academy.
- Tampering of certificates, forgery or concealment of facts makes a candidate permanently ineligible for all types of commission.
